Author Spotlight

Some of my many favorite Authors

Authors like Mark Tufo, Armand Rosamilia, Kyle West, Michael Bunker, Tom Abrahams, Ernest Cline, Hugh Howey T.W. Piperbrook and many others were a huge influence and they might not even know it. (Find their books and read ’em!!)  I enjoyed their writing styles so much they inspired me to take the plunge into finally sitting down and just getting it done.

Michael Bunker

“Both classically beautiful and stunningly original, Michael Bunker’s fiction comes at you sideways and leaves you eager for more.” ~ Ted Kosmatka, author of The Flicker Men and Prophet of Bones

“Michael Bunker is a new breed of sci-fi author… gutsy, prolific, and obsessed with his craft. Read himnow before he becomes a household name.” ~ Isaac Hooke, author of ATLAS, and THE FOREVER GATE

Pennsylvania is a brilliant tale of extra-planetary colonization. With parallels to the European settlement of the America’s, Michael Bunker draws on his Amish roots and lifestyle to portray that tenuous balance between mankind and its machines. He also knows better than most the difficulty of surviving on civilization’s frontier. I daresay the wait for the next great Amish science fiction author may be finally at an end.” ~ Hugh Howey, New York Times Bestselling Author of Wool, Sand, and Peace in Amber.

Michael Bunker is a USA Today Bestselling author, off-gridder, husband, and father of four children. He lives with his family in a “plain” community in Central Texas, where he reads and writes books…and occasionally tilts at windmills.

Michael is the author of several popular and acclaimed works of dystopian sci-fi, including the Amazon top 20 bestselling Amish Sci-fi thriller the Pennsylvania Omnibus, the groundbreaking dystopian vision Hugh Howey called “a brilliant tale of extra-planetary colonization.” He also has written the epic post-apocalyptic WICK series, The Silo Archipelago (set in Hugh Howey’s World of WOOL,) as well as many nonfiction works, including the non-fiction Amazon overall top 30 bestseller Surviving Off Off-Grid. Michael was commissioned by through their Kindle Worlds program to write the first commissioned novel set in the World of Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle. That book is entitled Osage Two Diamonds, and it debuted on Dec. 17, 2013. Michael has been featured widely on as one of their Rising Stars, on NPR, and HuffPost Live and was recently interviewed in a article that will give you more background and insight into his life and works.

On November 21st, 2014 Tales From Pennsylvania, a fanfic short story anthology featuring 10 top speculative fiction authors writing fanfic short stories in the world of Michael Bunker’s Pennsylvania, was released in paperback and e-book format. There are more than 20 authors currently writing fanfic in the world of MB’s Pennsylvania.

In November of 2015, Variety Magazine announced that Michael had sold a film/tv option for his bestselling novel Pennsylvania to Jorgensen Pictures. JP is currently developing Pennsylvania for production into a feature film or Television series. Michael is writing the first draft of the screenplay.

Readers who subscribe to Michael’s newsletter get free copies of his books, usually before they’re published.

If you are not familiar with Michael’s work, definitely start with The Pennsylvania Omnibus! Amish-Scifi! Unless, of course, you are a huge Kurt Vonnegut fan, then start with Osage Two Diamonds 😉 The first part of Pennsylvania is always free when you sign up for Michael’s email newsletter.
